Besides, a cook has also been suspended.On Wednesday, villagers found them adulterating the meal and complained to the Budhlada SDM that they had mixed crushed rice and other material in the flour.

District education officer Rajinder Mittal said, "We have suspended Shanti Devi, the officiating head, and cook Mittho Kaur for allegedly adulterating the mid-day meal. They face the allegations into which the officials are doing an inquiry.

Both the cook and the in-charge blamed each other for the lapse. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty."

Budhlada SDM Tejdeep Singh Saini said, "I received a phone call from the villagers about the adulteration being done by the school authorities. I immediately sent officials to the spot. We informed the DEO elementary, who took action against the accused and is carrying out the investigation."
