The police have solved the murder case of Mohammad Kurban (25) that was found murdered at a vacant plot of Jamalpur area on September 2, with the arrest of one accused, while two of the accused are at large. The police have dispatched police parties to Bihar for their arrest. The police have claimed the murder has been executed in the brawl between the gang members over the distribution of the booty.
The arrested accused has been identified as Isfaq Mohammad of Purnia of Bihar. He lives in a rented accommodation at Moti Nagar. The police have recovered a metal statue of Buddha from his possession. The accused that are absconded are Abu Hayat and Mohammad Jalil.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, ACP (east) Naveen Singla said the deceased was member of a gang that used to outsmart the people in the pretext of buried treasure. They procured a sim from Uttar Pradesh and used to call the people and lured them that they have found a treasure during excavate and now they are interested in selling gold statue at the price of peanuts.
The accused used to call the interested one to some place and gave them sample of gold. When they come to final the deal the accused used to hand over the brass instead of gold.
According to Inspector Raj Kumar, SHO police station division no. 7, the accused had sold a statue to a man for Rs. 2 lakh near Jalandhar on August 31.
The accused hanged out for boozes near transport nagar on September 1. There they indulged in brawl over the distribution of booty. The trio had beaten him and strangled with piece of cloth and them crushed his head with stones to death and fled.
"After committing the crime Isfaq remained roaming in the area, while other two fled. Isfaq has admitted that he was present in the people that huddled around the crime spot when the police recovered the dead body," said the SHO.
"The police were suspecting some acquaintance behind the murder from the first day. During investigation the police got tip-off about Isfaq Mohabbad. The police have arrested the accused from a naka put up near Samrala Chowk on Friday," he added.
Abu Hayat most wanted of Bihar
Abu Hayatm, the accused of murder case in Ludhiana has been wanted to Bihar Police in several cases of murder, extortion, kidnapping and robbery. Around 12 cases have neem arrested him in different police station of Bihar. He used to keep changing on his location to refrain police action against him. According to MP Singh, SHO police station Rauta, district Purnia of Bihar the Abu Hayat is hardcore criminal and wanted in several cases.
