Minister of State for external affairs Preneet Kaur has visited Maldova on a first ever political visit from India since the country gained independence.
In a press release issued by her office, issues of improving bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed.
Kaur said the visit will mark a new chapter of relations between India and Moldova.
Moldova was part of Romania till 1992. It is a landlocked country between Romania and Ukraine.
"Moldova is an integral part of Europe and has a rich historical heritage. It has harmoniously absorbed diverse cultures and traditions, thus obtaining specific and unparalleled features," she said.
