Mother, her paramour booked as 17-yr-old girl kills self in Moga

The girl was upset over her mother’s relationship with a man in the village.

A 17-year-old girl committed suicide by consuming poison at her home in Mubarakpur Augarh village in Dharamkot subdivision of Moga on Monday, as she was upset over her mother’s relationship with a man in the village, police said. The mother and the alleged paramour have been booked on charges of abetment.

The victim, Manjot Kaur, is a granddaughter of sarpanch Gurdev Kaur, on whose statement the police booked her mother Mandeep Kaur, who had not come home for 15 days, and her paramour Pritpal Singh.

Balwinder Singh, assistant sub-inspector (ASI), said, “We are conducting raids to nab the both of them. The girl’s body was handed over to the family after post-mortem examination.”
