“We have added Tuesday in our Bangkok schedule after getting good response from the passengers,” said Air India’s manager RK Negi. He said booking is already open for the new flight.
Negi said the flight, which has 150 economy class seats and 12 business class seats, had 117 passengers on its first flight. All flights since then have flown with at least 150 customers, with the economy class almost fully occupied.
“People of the region prefer to travel from Chandigarh if they are given the option,” said Negi, who added that there is no decision yet on further connectivity of the flight to Australia or New Zealand.
Meanwhile, former president of the Mohali industrial association Sanjeev Vashisht said there is a need to have wider connectivity from the airport because of huge demand of people from Punjab and other states.
“We should have flights to Europe and US once the runway length is made optimal by the next year,” he said.
