A 28-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his wife and her lover moments after he celebrated his son’s birthday at his house in Jind, the police said. The deceased has been identified as Joginder Singh, a labourer.
The police have arrested his wife Pinky, 25, and her lover Ravi, 26, for stabbing him to death.
Joginder’s father Mangal Singh told the police that his son had got a job in Sonepat a few months ago after which, he moved there with his wife and two kids. Mangal said Joginder and his family were living at Mangal’s sister-in-law’s (wife’s sister) house in Sonepat, who lived with her son Ravi after her husband’s death.
“In Sonepat, my daughter-in-law got in an illicit relationship with Ravi. Joginder caught them in a compromising position one day and he quit his job to return to Jind with his wife and kids,” Mangal said.
He said that ever since they came back, Pinky was threatening him to either take her to Sonepat or to divorce her. Mangal said Pinky continued to meet Ravi fearlessly and this often caused quarrels between the couple.
“On Thursday, the entire family was celebrating my grandson Amarjeet’s birthday. Ravi had also come. After the celebrations, we all went to sleep. At midnight, Pinky came to my room to tell that Joginder was bleeding. I rushed to see him and found him dead,” said Mangal.
The police said that based on Mangal’s claims, they questioned Pinky and Ravi and both confessed to have stabbed Joginder in his neck and other body parts to kill him. They have been booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Both have been arrested.
