A native of Rahmatpur village in Lahore, Mohammad Amir (55) was nabbed by security forces in January 2013 for entering India without a visa. The reason behind his death could not be ascertained.

However, a source said that for the past few days, Amir had not been feeling well and was admitted to the civil hospital here. He was referred to the Faridkot hospital after his condition deteriorated.

In the meantime, Ferozepur deputy commissioner has ordered a magisterial probe into the case and information has been passed to the Pakistan embassy to trace his family. In case Pakistan does not accept the body, Amir will be cremated in India.
