Pregnant woman, mother-in-law drugged, looted

A 25-year-old pregnant woman and his mother-in-law were drugged and looted in the civil hospital here on April 22 when a couple gave them a drug-laced drink in the hospital and sped away with their gold ornaments.

A 25-year-old pregnant woman and his mother-in-law were drugged and looted in the civil hospital here on April 22 when a couple gave them a drug-laced drink in the hospital and sped away with their gold ornaments.

The victims have been identified as Sukhdeep Kaur (25) and her mother-in-law, Mahinder Kaur, residents of Kharora village of the district.

According to investigating officer, Pardeep Singh Sukhdeep Kaur, who is pregnant, had come to the civil hospital for a check-up on April 22. She was approached by a couple who took them to the gynaecology ward where they told Sukhdeep that they knew a doctor and also advised her to conduct a blood test. Later they offered them a drug-laced drink. The victims became unconscious after having drink. The couple took away ornaments of Sukhdeep Kaur and her mother-in-law.

The investigating officer also added that a passerby saw two women and a child lying unconscious outside the emergency. He got them admitted to the civil hospital from where they were referred to the Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. They regained consciousness after a day. The police have registered a case.
