In a press statement here, Sharma said people of the state were set to get big relief from these decisions, especially the decision to ensure life imprisonment for those involved in incidents of sacrilege of religious books that would go a long way in ensuring peace and communal harmony in Punjab. It would definitely curb such incidents,” he said.

The state BJP chief also hailed the decision to give employment to 1.14 lakh youth of the state terming it the biggest achievement of the Akali-BJP government. “The decision would also help ensure good governance as for want of requisite staff in the departments the government functioning was slow,” Sharma said.

He said the SAD-BJP government had also considered senior citizens by doubling their amount of monthly pension.
