Punjab state games to start today

More than 2,200 people will participate in the three-day Punjab State Games for Women to kicks off at Multipurpose Sports Stadium, Bathinda from Thursday.

More than 2,200 people will participate in the three-day Punjab State Games for Women to kicks off at Multipurpose Sports Stadium, Bathinda from Thursday.

Punjab sports director Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon said that 150 officials had been deputed by the sports department for smooth conduct of the Games.

"The aim to conduct these games is to encourage women towards sports and give them a chance to excel and exhibit their ," Said Dhillon.

Competitions will be organised in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Gymnastics, Hockey, Handball, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Lawn Tennis, Swimming, Table Tennis and Volleyball.

Deputy commissioner Kamal Kishor Yadav said that all arrangements for accommodation, catering, transportation, medical and security have been finalised. He also informed that Damanjit Singh Mann, SDM, Bathinda has been deputed to coordinate with the sports department to look after different arrangements.
