Punjab youths risk death in chasing a foreign dream
Going abroad to get a job and perhaps settle down there is a dream chased by most Punjabi youngsters. But they think twice before going through a travel agent as they may find themselves marked for elimination in Bihar instead of landing in the United States or Canada.

A new modus operandi adopted by travel agents came to the fore when Kulvir Singh, a resident of Rama Mandi in Bathinda fled from the captivity of criminals from Darbhanga, Bihar who planned to kill him. He was able to escape from their clutches only after six months after they had fired gunshots with the intention to shoot him dead.
Kulvir had paid Rs 12.5 lakh to an Amritsar travel agent, Lakhwinder Singh, through another travel agent in Nabha, identified as Surinder Singh, to settle in Canada. However, they boarded him on a plane to Patna, Bihar where criminals, who were part of the scheme to dupe gullible young men, took him into their captivity.
