In Patiala, he would visit former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh. In Amritsar, he was received by District Congress Committee (DCC), Amritsar rural, president Gurjeet Singh Aujla.

Sarwar said the relations between India and Pakistan would develop with the will of people and not by governments. He was all praise for the hospitality the government of India had extended to him.

Aujla said both Indians and Pakistanis must not only rely on the governments' efforts in developing cross-border friendliness as these official tactics are dead slow and politically imbued. "The best way is to exchange love and respect with the visitors and develop peace and harmony," he said.
