Talking to media here on Sunday, Karimpuri said that the alliance was formed to grab power and they had nothing to do with the welfare of the people.

He said that after formation of the government at the Centre, BJP leaders were now planning to form government in Punjab without the support of SAD, that is why a group of BJP leaders has been attacking the SAD. “It is interesting to note that despite routine insulting statements by BJP leaders, the SAD leadership was quiet as they wanted to continue with the alliance to remain in power,” he added.

He, however, blamed the SAD-BJP government for the miserable condition of the state saying, “The Save Punjab campaign of the BSP was getting good response in the state and the people were waiting for the elections to vote for a change”. He said, “The campaign will also help the BSP to strengthen its base in the state.”
