Scribe bludgeoned to death at Samrala

A journalist from a Punjabi vernacular newspaper was bludgeoned to death on Monday night here. The half-naked body of Sant Prakash Kalra, 60, who was also a financier, was found on Tuesday morning at Salodi village on the Samrala-Khanna road here.

A journalist from a Punjabi vernacular newspaper was bludgeoned to death on Monday night here. The half-naked body of Sant Prakash Kalra, 60, who was also a financier, was found on Tuesday morning at Salodi village on the Samrala-Khanna road here.

His revolver and a gold chain, besides a blood-stained knife and a hockey stick used in the crime were also recovered from the spot. His family told the police that Kalra’s mobile phone had been switched off after he had called to say he’d be home in time for dinner.

The Samrala police have registered a murder case against unidentified accused.
