The Panjab University syndicate on Sunday recommended removal of Komal Singh, an assistant professor at the public administration department, after the Punjab University Committee Against Sexual Harassment (PUCASH) held him guilty for misbehaving with a female student on the campus in an inebriated condition.

The matter will now be dealt at the senate meeting as it is the punishing authority.

The syndicate also decided that the teacher should vacate the house allocated to him in the campus. Authorities have been directed to issue him a notice in this regard.

According to the findings of the sexual harassment committee, Singh not only harassed, but also beat up the student. The student appeared before the panel and was successful in proving the allegations.

This is the third case of sexual harassment against Singh.

The first case took place when he was chairperson of the public administration department. A student had then complained against him but later withdrew it. PUCASH said it was on record that he misbehaved with her and he wrongfully facilitated to get her a hostel room. Singh had to resign from the department’s chairpersonship.

In the second case, a female student of the same department accused him of levelling sexually coloured remarks.
