
Sikh woman murdered in Baramulla, community members hold stir
A 56-year-old woman was today allegedly killed by unidentified assailants in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, triggering protest by members of the community, police said.
Kundan Kaur was attacked by the assailants while she was on her way to a Gurudwara in Old Town Baramulla around 5.30 am, an official said. The woman was rushed to the district hospital by some locals where she succumbed to injuries, the official said adding, the victim bore injuries on her head and neck.
The body has been sent for post mortem and police has registered a case. Following the incident, members of the Sikh community held protests as they demanded arrest of the culprits, the official said, adding that the motive of the crime was yet to be ascertained.
