Local MLA Parminder Singh Pinki on Saturday demanded that the state government facilitate land for various development projects funded by the Centre.

He was addressing a press conference here.

He said the UPA government had approved a satellite centre of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, worth Rs 200 crore. Three sites had been earmarked for this and a team of the PGI would visit here next month, he added.

Pinki claimed that the union human resource ministry had approved a government degree college and the SAD-BJP government should rise above party politics and facilitate the required land to set up the institute.

To revamp the sewerage system in Ferozepur, a project worth Rs 56 crore had been approved and tenders were invited for it on Saturday, he said.
