The members of Sarab Bharat Naujawan Sabha, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Naujawan Sabha, Punjab Student Union, Janwadi Naujawan Sabha, Students Federation of India, Naujawan Bharat Sabha and All India Sikh Students Federation marched towards the ancestral house of Dhingra at Katra Sher Singh area and later burnt the effigy at Hall Gate.

Speaking on the occasion, Prithipal Singh Mari Megha from Sarb Bharat Naujwan Sabha said the protest was held against the statements given by the Punjab government in the high court that a national monument could not be built at Dhingra's house.

"We had earlier protested when the house had been demolished. The deputy commissioner had written to the state government and the high court had also ordered the Punjab government to acquire the house and make a monument there. However, now the government is giving statements against the move," he said.

The members demanded that a memorial be set up and all things related to his life placed there.
