The teachers were demanding withdrawal of the rationalisation policy and to stop “selling government schools to private companies”.

Sikandar Singh Cheema, a member of union, said that their demand included release of teachers who were arrested in Bathinda while demanding their rights.

Listing the demands, Cheema further said the teachers and staff working on contract basis should be regularised and salaries of the education providers, computer teachers, special trainers and others should be piad.
