Parents of the student alleged that the teacher, identified as Amardeep Singh, insulted the boy in front of the class, which pushed him to take the step.

In his complaint to police, the student’s father, stated that on July 7 when his son returned home from school, he claimed to have been brutally beaten up by the teacher. “He added that the teacher insulted him and told him that he should die for his poor performance,” the father alleged.

He said when his son fainted, the family rushed him to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. The family has also alleged that the boy is not recognising anyone after the incident.

He alleged that a few days back, the same teacher had thrashed his son, following which his tooth was broken.

On Saturday, the parents filed a police compliant at Marado police post. A day later, the Sadar police registered an FIR under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restrain) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

Assistant commissioner of police (ACP-Sadar) Ramandeep Singh Bhullar said the investigating is on and the police will arrest the accused soon.
