With three days left for regularisation of illegal colonies, both municipal corporation and Patiala Development Authority (PDA) have failed to get expected response so far.
Notified on August 21, the deadline for seeking regularisation of illegal colonies is October 7.
Sources said, MC has received just two applications so far against 26 illegal colonies indentified by the authorities in its jurisdiction. Moreover, the civic body has received only 300 applications from plot holders for regularisation of their personal sites.
The same is the case with PDA as it received around 1625 applications so far besides 21 applications for colonies from its zonal districts including Patiala, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib and Barnala. However, PUDA has earlier identified around 672 unauthorised colonies.
However, from the past three days, heavy rush could be witnessed at registration centres as on Thursday PDA and MC received around 400 and 80 applications respectively.
Sources said the response is poorer in the outskirts of Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib and Barnala, while people from peripheral colonies of Patiala city were showing interest in regularising their plots.
"Colonisers are showing least interest in regularisation process as plot holders, especially government employees, come up with queries and fee depositing to legalise their property,"a source said.
A senior MC official said though people were approaching to inquire about prices and forms but have failed to turn up when it come to regularisation of their illegal residential and commercial properties.
PDA additional chief administrator Preneet Shergill said it was reported that some people were misleading illegal plot holders and colonisers that dates would be extended or prices will be amended next month.
"The deadline for regularisation is October 7 and no cases will be taken into consideration after that,"she said. She added they are expecting more rush. Additonal staff has already been deployed to carry out the process. Both MC and PDA offices will remain open on Saturday and Sunday.
