"The Punjab Infrastructure Development Board will be the construction agency for the new bus stands and we are hopeful that its construction will start at the earliest," he added.

Besides construction of commercial complexes in the modern bus stands, special facilities will be given on loading and unloading platforms. An air-conditioned waiting hall and online timetable facilities will also be incorporated.

On the pattern of bus stands in Maharashtra, the announcement of arrival and departure of buses will also be done in the newly constructed bus stands.

The new bus stand at Sangrur will surely bring smiles to faces of commuters as the condition of the present bus stand is in a mess. Passengers and bus owners face a lot of difficulties, owing to choked drainage system and stagnant water during rain.
