The accused has been identified as Dr Vijay Malik, who is pursuing his MD from PGIMS.

Malik reached the emergency ward at around 1am and started misbehaving with the doctors on duty. When his colleagues objected to his behaviour, he became more angry. When the security guard tried to intervene, he warned him of severe consequences. Malik then started arguing with a woman standing in the corridor and slapped her.

The security guard called the cops, who took him out. He also created a scene at an eatery at the entrance of the hospital. The police dropped him at his hostel, but he returned after some time, only to be dropped back at the hostel.

Sources said that the accused doctor had indulged in similar acts in the past too.

PGIMS director CS Dhull said that the concerned PG student would face strict action for the irresponsible behaviour.
