“We were stationed at a naka near main chowk in Shahpur village when we got a tip-off about the incident. We rushed to the residence of the accused and questioned them, but in vain. However, when we intensified our interrogation, Davinder confessed to the crime,” said Yadwinder, also the investigation officer on the case.
He said, “The accused said they killed their father as he did not allot his property in their names. Besides, they also alleged that their father’s character was not good and people had in past complained about it.”
Amritsar rural police arrested the brothers and charged them under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
