
Two brothers shot dead over land dispute in Bathinda, 4 booked
In broad daylight shooting in the district, armed men shot dead two brothers due to a dispute over 1.5 kanal of land in Bibiwala village in Bathinda on Monday.
The victims, Mukhtyar Singh, 55, and Jarnail Singh, 57, had gone to cultivate the land, when a group of men attacked them, the police said. The assailants used .315 bore and .12 bore rifles and .32 bore revolver. Jarnail took the bullets on his chest, while Mukhtyar was hit in the abdomen. The assailants fled after the incident.
“Jarnail was employed in the ammunition depot of the Indian Army in Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir. Mukhtyar was employed with the Military Engineering Services in Bathinda Cantonment,” said Nathana SHO inspector Bhupinder Singh.
Police have booked Darshan Singh, Gurmit Singh and Ram Singh, all brothers under section 302 (murder) of the IPC. Ram Singh’s son Gurpreet Singh has also been booked under the same charge.
