Two food delivery men nabbed a robber and saved the life of a 35-year-old man near the Sector 44/45 light point in the wee hours, police said on Friday.
Devender Singh, a bellman at a Sector 22 hotel, was on his way to work from his house in Burail when two men approached him from the rear and assaulted him with the stump of a charpoy near the Laxmi Narayan temple in Sector 44.
As the victim shouted for help, Amarjit Singh of Kharar and Simranjit Singh of Kishangarh — who work for a food delivery app — stopped their bikes.
Meanwhile, the assailants tried to flee with the victim’s mobile phone and important documents.
“The brave delivery men ran after the assailants and nabbed one of them, identified as Sanehi. Meanwhile, his aide Ajay Kumar managed to escape,” said Sector-49 station house officer (SHO) Jaswinder Kaur, who has the additional charge of the Sector-34 police station, where a case has been registered.
After nabbing Sanehi, the delivery men made a call to the police control room (PCR).
The accused have been booked under Sections 392 (robbery) , 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) and 34 (acts done by several person with a common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Sanehi has been sent to two-day police remand to quiz him about the whereabouts of Ajay Kumar.
