During the raid, the accused, identified as Parmod Kumar, tried to flee but was nabbed by the officials.

The vigilance bureau said Ghansham Bhardwaj, who was working with a private company, lodged a complaint that the JE was asking for the bribe for digging road for which he had already paid to the department.

The vigilance bureau laid a trap and asked Bhardwaj to pay the amount to the JE at Banur, where he was laying the optical fiber.

According to the plan, the vigilance bureau nabbed the JE and recovered the marked currency notes from him in the presence of government witnesses.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused, who would be produced before a court on Wednesday.
