There are 3.26 lakhs BPL families in Dhanbad waiting to get their health cards under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The health department has signed MoUs with 10 government hospitals and 18 corporate nursing homes in the district.

According to official records, only 2282 Golden Cards were generated in Dhanbad till October 31. The problem of link failure is present in Ranchi and Jamshedpur as well, but the crisis in Dhanbad is stretching for long.

Government owned Patliputra Medical College Hospital (PMCH) has put up a notice about link failure. Hospital superintendent Dr T Hemram on Saturday said many beneficiaries appear at the hospital counter daily for making Golden Cards and have to return due to link failure. The notice has been put up for their convenience.

“With restoration of network link of the project, card making process would be resumed”, said PMCH superintendent.

To ensure that beneficiaries who stay far away do not face harassment, the medical college hospital authority has issued a phone number (9431782984), requesting beneficiaries to SMS their names and addresses, so that they could be called after restoration of link. Ayushman Bharat health scheme was inaugurated at PMCH on September 23.

Due to link failure, beneficiaries had to face problems at corporate hospitals of districts as well. Civil surgeon (CS) Dr Chandrambika Srivastava said Asian Jalan Memorial Hospital and other registered nursing homes have complained about link failure problem.

The officials of registered hospitals where Golden Cards are being made alleged that despite being informed about link failure at state headquarters a week ago, no action was taken to restore the link. “The link failure problem has to be solved at state headquarters level, but we have to face wrath of people daily”, said an executive director of a corporate hospital.
