Two students of Jharkhand's Indian School of Mines (ISM) drowned after skidding into Bhatinda Falls on Saturday while taking selfie. The students were on picnic at the waterfall, around 40 kilometres from Dhanbad.

They have been identified as Arun Kumar Singh, a third year computer science student and resident of Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh and Lawansh Sharma, a third year electrical engineering student from Madhya Pradesh.
According to police and college authorities, the two, who were part of a four-member team of picnickers to Bhatinda Falls, were residing at Amber hostel.
At the spot , Lavansh Sharma reportedly entered the restricted area to take selfie and slipped into the waterfall. Watching him struggle in the waters, Arun Kumar Singh jumped after him but he drowned too. Their companions, Ayush Kumar and Gopal Sharma, cried for help but in vain, said D Prasad, officer-in-charge of Putki police station.
He said the police’s first priority was to retrieve the bodies. However, there was no success till late evening. The ISM administration too has sent a team led by its security officer Rahul Kumar to the spot “to recover the bodies of our students at the earliest,” said ISM registrat Col (Retd) MK Singh.
In a similar incident in November 2011, two students of the college, Guturvira Ashok and Nand Dayal Gautam, had drowned in the waterfall while bathing.
