Vivegam stars Ajith and Kajal Aggarwal. Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi makes his Tamil debut with the film.

As movie business goes, even pre-release collections, make big news. Baahubali 2, the second part of SS Rajamouli’s fantasy series, reportedly made Rs 500 crores before its release. Now, Ajith starrer Vivegam has got everyone excited as it has apparently earned Rs 120 crores before hitting the screens.

For the next two weeks, Kollywood will be buzzing with one word and that will be Vivegam, the highly anticipated Ajith starrer which marks his reunion with Siva for the third after delivering blockbusters such as Veeram and Vedalam. Slated for grand release on August 24 worldwide, the film is riding high on very good expectations. It’s a new non-Rajinikanth record for a film even before its release and Ajith’s fans have every reason to celebrate. According to a trade pundit, such unprecedented craze for a Tamil film hasn’t been witnessed in recent times.

The film features Ajith in the role of an Interpol agent and he is on an international mission. Vivek Oberoi makes his Kollywood debut in the role of the antagonist. However, some of the posters of the film reveal that he is on Ajith’s team. There’s a possibility that he turns rogue and locks horns with Ajith, who transformed himself physically for the role. Made on a lavish budget and extensively shot against the backdrop of exotic European locations, Vivegam is a true-blue international film and it also stars Akshara Haasan and Kajal Aggarwal.

Vivegam will have a simultaneous release in Telugu and has been dubbed as Vivekam. Ajith’s films haven’t done great so far in Telugu and it has to be seen if this project can break the bad luck and earn him a sizable following in Tollywood. Produced by Sathya Jyoti Films, Anirudh Ravichander has composed music for the film and the album has been received very well. It is rumoured that the trailer of Vivegam will be released this week on Thursday, August 17.
