Actor Dileep was arrested in July for his role in the abduction and assault on the Malayalam actress in February this year.

After Malayalam actress’ open letter to Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, now it is superstar Dileep’s mother’s turn.

Dileep’s mother, Sarojam, wrote in a letter that her son is innocent and that he has been trapped, reports She also asked the government to take action to save him.

The letter from Dileep’s mother comes soon after the Malayalam actress’ open letter to the chief minister against MLA PC George, who had questioned the credibility of the attack against the survivor.

The office of the chief minister confirmed that they had received the letter from Sarojam and added that it had duly been forwarded to DGP Loknath Behera.

Dileep was arrested on July 10 for his involvement in the abduction and sexual assault on the actress in February. He was booked under nine sections of the IPC, which includes criminal conspiracy and gang rape. He recently moved Kerala high court for the second time requesting bail.

In his second bail application, he claimed that he had no connection with the perpetrators of the crime and added that there was a ‘large-scale’ conspiracy by a section of powerful people in the film industry, including his ex-wife, Manju Warrier.

Meanwhile, the concerned actress, who wrote the open letter, rubbished PC George’s claim that she had joined the film sets the very next day after the assault. She sat in a room for a week, she claimed. It was only 10 days later that she managed to lead a normal life and return to work, thanks to the support and encouragement she received from her colleagues.

“What do people like PC George think? Should I have committed suicide? Or should I have been dumped in a mental asylum? Or should I hide somewhere by not appearing in public?” she demanded.
