The actor further adds that although it is an unexpected pleasure to see Ram Charan make his Hindi film debut with an iconic movie like the remake of Zanjeer (1973), he understands that it demands an additional sense of responsibility as well.

“Charan was extremely stressed and in a huge dilemma about taking up the Zanjeer remake. Being Chiranjeevi’s son in itself is a challenge for Charan, and now add to that the responsibility of fitting into Amitabh Bachchan’s shoes. It’s not an easy job,” says Chiranjeevi.

Incidentally, even Chiranjeevi made his Hindi film debut with the role of a police officer, just like Ram Charan in Zanjeer. “My Hindi debut was with Pratibandh (1990) and it was a tough role. I am happy that Charan is essaying the role that gave Mr Bachchan star status,” adds the actor.

As for his own acting career, Chiranjeevi says he has hardly any time to spare for films, since he is also the Union Minister of State for Tourism. “However, I would love to do a film with Charan. It’s been his mother’s wish forever,” he says.
