Jitendra Joshi has been flooded with messages praising and appreciating his character Katekar in the web series Sacred Games. However, Jitendra feels he did not do much. “To be very honest, I am clueless as to what made Katekar so popular. I think the right people to answer this would be Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap. I have done nothing to make it popular. It is clearly their work and vision that got the audience to praise Katekar,” says Jitendra.

Sacred Games was Jitendra’s debut in the web world and he is excited about being part of more web series. However, he is quick to clarify that he doesn’t differentiate between mediums. “I am open to work that excites me. The medium or anything else doesn’t matter to me. I want to be associated with good work. I want to work with more directors, film-makers and actors, and learn from everyone’s methods. Each person has a different approach and I want to experience that,” says the Duniyadari actor (2013).

Saif Ali Khan and Jitendra share a light moment during the shoot of Sacred Games

Jitendra shared screen space with Saif Ali Khan on the series and their chemistry was one of the most talked about aspects of the show. “I had stated that I would like to have a reading with him before we started work. We met at his office and we got talking. He has a witty sense of humour and is as normal as you and I are. Our chemistry was very gradual. He is a great human being, a thorough gentleman and an amazing co-star. He has zero insecurities or hassles. He just focusses on his work and nothing else. He is very well read and fun loving.”

The Poshter Girl (2016) actor has written songs for Lokesh Gupte’s debut directorial and hasn’t signed on any new project as of now. “There are a few things which are still in the nascent stage. Also, I don’t work for the sake of it. I am always on the lookout for varied roles. I don’t like to take up stereotypical or typecast roles. I enjoy comedy, but I am also an intense person so I like to portray intense roles too.”
