I was intrigued by the mystery in the script : Parna Pethe
Parna Pethe has explored a new genre and look with her next flick, directed by Girish JoshiUpdated: Jul 31, 2018 19:48 IST
Actor Parna Pethe has managed to take audiences by surprise with every character she has played so far. Be it her choice of commercial films or experimental plays, the Faster Fene (2017) actor has proven her mettle as a versatile actor. This year, the Fergusson College alumnus is all set to come up with yet another one of her quirky avatars in Girish Joshi’s Take Care Good Night (TCGN). Parna says, “The mystery genre of the script intrigued me. Also, Girish is a very well-known writer-director. I have been a fan of his work in theatre. His plays are always very engaging and there is something very entertaining about his writing. TCGN is his first feature film and I was excited to collaborate with him.”
The Photocopy (2016) actor shares that mystery is a genre that she hasn’t explored so far. And, this was another reason why she decided to take up the film. “I am very unlike my character in the film (Sanika). She is low on confidence. It is a very non-heroine and non-glamorous character sketch. She is not very comfortable with herself. She is boyish and wear baggy clothes. She is exploring her identity and that really got me thinking. It is something I had not done before in theatre or in films,” adds the Rama Madhav (2014) actor.
Parna will be sharing screen space with senior actors Irawati Harshe and Sachin Khedekar in this film, and admits that she was very excited when she got to know about the same. “When I got to know that Irawati tai is playing my mother in the film, I was very excited. I had recently watched her in Astu (2015) and have been in love with her work since then. I hadn’t met her before this but there is something about her personality that is very appealing. We clicked immediately and I can say we are friends today. We shared a great bond on and off sets. In fact, most of us from this set are like family now.”
Talking about her other co-star, Parna adds, “I have always respected Sachin sir so much. However, I must admit that sometimes I am also scared of him. Having said that, I got to learn a lot from him, be it his strong command over the language, camera awareness and screen presence.”
