Kamal Haasan to begin shooting for Indian 2 from June

Putting rumours of shelving the film to rest, Kamal Haasan will begin shooting for Indian 2 next month.

Actor-filmmaker-politician Kamal Haasan has busy months ahead as he will be juggling between the sets of reality show Bigg Boss 3 and Shankar’s Indian 2, which is finally expected to go on the floors from next month onwards.

Amidst rumours doing the rounds that the project has been shelved, reliable sources from Lyca Productions have confirmed Indian 2 will begin filming from June. An official announcement from the makers regarding the shoot commencement is expected very soon.

Indian 2, a sequel to Shankar’s 1992 blockbuster Indian, marks the reunion of Haasan and Shankar after two decades. The film’s first poster was released earlier this year on the occasion of Pongal festival.

The first poster featured Haasan displaying his ‘varma-kalai’ skill as the Octogenarian vigilante Senapathy from Indian. The poster, which was released sans any hullabaloo, was received very well and was trending on social media in no time.

It has already been confirmed that Kajal Aggarwal plays the leading lady. A few months ago, she underwent some physical training in preparation for the role. In an interview to IANS news agency, she had said that she sees signing Indian 2 as a step up in her career. “I’m really thrilled to be part of the project. I’m quite excited about my role and the skills I will get to learn on the job. I see signing ‘Indian 2’ as a step up in my career,” she said.

Anirudh Ravichander has been confirmed to compose music. It will be the young composer’s maiden collaboration with Shankar, whose last outing was superstar Rajinikanth starrer 2.0.
