After Jyothika and Aishwarya Rajessh, now it is Simbu who has joined Mani Ratnam’s next. The ace Tamil director is on a casting spree and seems to putting together all his favourite stars for his next untitled project.
Trade tracker Ramesh Bala tweeted to confirm the news: #STR is signed as the lead for Dir #Maniratnam’s next Multi-starrer project.. Official announcement expected this evening.
According to an Indian Express report, Ratnam is also trying to get Vijay Sethupathi in the film. Actors Arvind Swami and Fahadh Faasil have already given their consent.
Confirming the news, Jyothika recently told in a media interaction that she wouldn’t mind doing a film even if she has just three scenes as long as her character is strong. Jyothika made a spectacular comeback to the silver screen in 2016 with 36 Vayadhinile. The film was a hit.
Meanwhile Aishwarya Rajessh, who just made her Bollywood debut with Arjun Rampal starrer Daddy, is clearly excited about doing a Mani Ratnam film. “I’m thrilled. It’s been my long time desire to work with Mani sir. I play one of the leads but I don’t know with whom I will be paired yet,” she said.
Mani Ratnam’s last film, Kaatru Veliyidai starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Karthi, proved to be a dud at the box office.
