My birthday wish is to explore and discover more: Shriya
Actor Shriya Pilgaonkar prefers a working birthday as it helps her grow and tap into her highest potential
For the past few years, actor Shriya Pilgaonkar has been working on her birthday and this year too, is no different. The actor will not take a break from her busy schedule and has no complains about it. In fact, she hopes that she always has a working birthday. She admits that she is someone who enjoys celebrating birthdays, however, the nature of celebration has changed over the years.

While growing up, the celebrations were primarily at home, then during her school days, it was a mix of parents and friends, but now, it is all about travelling, being with parents, celebrating with friends and of course, work. “I believe that you are as old as you feel. Age is genuinely just a number for me. So, I do not pay heed to how old I have turned. Instead, I enjoy and celebrate the day.”
The Mirzapur (2018) actor is currently shooting in Delhi for a film and has already had a few pre-birthday celebrations. “Before I left for Delhi on April 2, I called my grandparents home and celebrated my birthday. They were amused, as I got a cake and announced my celebration (laughs). My mom (Supriya Pilgaonkar) was here last weekend to ring in my birthday week. We went out shopping, for lunch and more. We had a great time.”
Shriya adds that she doesn’t wish for any thing particular on her birthday. “My birthday wish is always about wanting to explore and discover more. I want to be able to fulfil my responsibilities in every capacity possible. I want to be able to tap my highest potential and do my absolute best in whatever I do.”
Recalling one memorable and fun birthday, she adds, “It was my 16th and my parents had planned a surprise party. But, I had got to know of it much in advance. I did not want them to know. So, it was like a real test of my acting skills, as I had to act surprised (laughs).”
