Vijay Sethupathi not doing a cameo in Dhanush’s Asuran, clarifies Vetrimaaran

Vetrimaaran, who is currently busy with Dhanush starrer Asuran, has denied reports that actor Vijay Sethupathi will make a cameo in the film.

The national award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran has denied reports about roping in Vijay Sethupathi for a cameo in upcoming Tamil revenge drama Asuran. Talking to a Tamil daily, Vetrimaaran denied even approaching Vijay for a role in the film. The filmmaker and Dhanush have teamed up for the fourth time for Asuran, which is currently in final leg of shooting.

Asuran stars Dhanush as a daily wage labourer and is being directed by Vetrimaaran.

The final schedule of Asuran began last week. The film, which also stars Manju Warrier, is based on Tamil novel Vekkai, written by Poomani. It is tipped to be a revenge drama that traces the fight of an oppressed community against those oppressing them.

The makers are yet to reveal complete cast and crew details of the project. However, recent reports indicate that Tamil director Balaji Sakthivel, best known for directing award-winning films Kadhal and Vazhakku En 18/9, has been roped in for a crucial role, and according to the grapevine, he plays the antagonist. The film, which was announced last December soon after the release of Vada Chennai, also stars Ken Karunas in a pivotal role.

Last seen playing a local ruffian in Maari 2, Dhanush will be seen playing a daily wage labourer in Asuran, and he will be seen in a fierce avatar. Being produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under the banner of V Creations, the film has music by GV Prakash Kumar.

Upon completing this project, Dhanush will return to resume shoot of director Durai Senthil Kumar’s yet-untitled film in which he plays dual roles. If the grapevine is anything to go by, Dhanush also plays dual roles in Asuran, and will be seen playing father and son.
