The makers of Vijay Sethupathi and R Madhavan starrer crime-drama Vikram Vedha celebrated the film’s successful 100-day run in cinemas with much fanfare on Thursday in Chennai. Every person associated with the project was honoured and it was moment to cherish for the team of one of the best films of the year.

Talking on the occasion, Vijay Sethupathi said the film had taken him to his next level in his career. “I don’t remember when the last time I was part of a 100-day celebration of my movie. I know Dharma Durai was my other film which had 100th day celebration. Vikram Vedha is special because it has taken me to the next level in my career. It has already been spoken about enough by everyone so I don’t have anything new to add.”

“The film has earned me the love and respect of so many people and the whole credit goes to my directors Pushkar and Gayatri. If someone decides to write my biography, this film will hold a special place in that book,” he said. In the film, Vijay Sethupathi played a gangster while Madhavan essayed an encounter specialist. Inspired by the popular folklore of Vikram Betaal, its moralities riddles are applied to a police-gangster backdrop. By grossing over Rs 60 crore worldwide in its lifetime theatrical run, the film appealed to critics and audiences alike. Apparently, actors Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh are in talks for the film’s Telugu remake. The Hindi remake will reportedly feature Shah Rukh Khan while Madhavan will be retained to play his same character.

Madhavan, speaking on the occasion, said that he had said at the film’s audio launch that he will speak at the 100th day celebration of the film’s run. Pushkar and Gayatri are undoubtedly the main reason behind the film’s success. The success of Vikram Vedha is a classic example of how audiences will own a film if they like it.
