Jai ho!

HT reader Geeta Verma wants to reconnect with her love.

I’d joined a coaching class in standard 10 then. One day, I bumped into Jai after class. We were in different batches and would see each other only sometimes.

Both of us acknowledged each other’s presence but never made conversation. I didn’t even know that he was attracted to me till he proposed to me. I said yes to him after thinking it over for a couple of days.

We didn’t meet much but would talk a lot over the phone. He used to call me Komolica. One day, my mother listened to our phone conversation on the parallel line. She was livid. She felt I was too young to be with a guy.

I didn’t know how to handle the situation. So I started ignoring his calls. I tried to call him back a couple of times but couldn’t get through. Finally he stopped calling.

Two years later, I called him up but his number had been disconnected. I looked him up on Orkut. But nothing came of that. Five years have passed but his memories are still fresh in my mind. I miss him a lot.

I wish he would get in touch with me. My number is still the same.
