The day before Valentine’s Day, she called to tell me that she couldn’t carry on because our stars didn’t match. Swapnil Lakade on 'lost' virtual love!sex and relationships Updated: Feb 12, 2009 19:47 IST
I had met Diya online. Gradually, we became good friends. She was in Delhi while I was in Mumbai but we shared some great moments together online. Then we started chatting over the phone.
My friends were getting irritated with my newfound love. I’d stopped hanging around with them. I was besotted with the love of my life. A day was incomplete without talking to her.
One day, I proposed to her and she accepted. I fell madly in love with her. Life was good. Our virtual love affair was going strong. Six months passed. Valentine’s Day was fast approaching.
Calling it off
We planned to meet on that day. I was supposed to fly down to Delhi early in the morning, spend the day with her and then catch the night flight back. She was excited about meeting me. My friends thought I was crazy but encouraged me nevertheless.
But suddenly my happiness was crushed. She started ignoring my calls. The day before Valentine’s Day, she called to tell me that she couldn’t carry on because our stars didn’t match.
She believed in astrology but I was sure this wasn’t the reason. There’s something else, I know, that she was hiding from me. It’s five months since that phone call. I spend sleepless nights wallowing in self-pity. I miss her very much.
