DUBAI: Courtesy his 10-wicket haul in the Kanpur Test against New Zealand, India off-spinner R Ashwin on Wednesday gained a place to be second in the latest ICC rankings and another good performance in the second match in Kolkata will propel him to the coveted top spot.

Ashwin’s match haul of 10 for 225 saw him overtake England’s James Anderson by one point. He is now within seven points of number-one ranked Dale Steyn of South Africa, who leads the rankings for Test bowlers with 878 points.
ENGLAND ANNOUNCE SA AND WEST INDIES FIXTURES

BCCI FILES FRESH AFFIDAVIT IN SUPREME COURT
MUMBAI: BCCI on Tuesday filed a fresh affidavit in the Supreme Court, pleading for the suspension of July 18 order until it hears the Board’s review and curative petitions, ESPN-cricinfo reported.
In its affidavit, the BCCI said that it had the right to seek more time before following the various timelines set by the Lodha Committee to smoothly implement the recommendations approved by the apex court. This is not their reply to Lodha Committee’s status report filed in the SC.
AFGHANISTAN SHOCK BANGLADESH TO LEVEL SERIES
DHAKA: Afghanistan skipper Asghar Stanikzai top-scored 57 runs as his side shocked Bangladesh by claiming a two-wicket victory in the second one-day international to level the threematch series 1-1 on Wednesday.
Bowlers set up the win for Afghanistan as leg-spinner Rashid Khan took 3-35 and Mohammad Nabi claimed 2-16 to help the visitors dismiss Bangladesh for a modest 208 runs.
