NICE: Jose Fonte is on cloud nine after making his Euro 2016 bow for Portugal in their round of 16 victory over Croatia and he cannot wait to face Poland. The 32-year-old centre-back, who started in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Croatia, is hoping coach Fernando Santos elects to play him in the quarter-finals against Poland on Thursday in Marseille. “Saturday’s game was important for me as I played my first game in such a big competition,” Fonte said. “If the coach considers it, I am ready to play the next game.”
