Russian sixth seed Dinara Safina rallied to defeat upset-minded Swiss teen Timea Bacsinszky 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 in two hours on Saturday and advance to the fourth round of the US Open.

Safina's next opponent will be Germany's Anna-Lena Groenefeld, who became the first US Open women's qualifier since Anna Kournikova in 1996 to reach the fourth round by defeating France's Alize Cornet 6-4, 7-5.
