Eto'o, the Spanish league's top scorer with 18 goals in 19 matches, was excluded from training on Tuesday after a series of bust-ups with coach Pep Guardiola, local media reported.

"The players are under great pressure. One day you can be in a bad mood, another day in a better mood but there has to be someone who makes the rules," said Laporta.

"I understand that Guardiola took this measure for the good of the team."
