For East Bengal, Chirag United are possibly somewhere between an irritation and a reminder of off-days in a season going swimmingly otherwise. Mohammed Rafique’s deflected glory ended East Bengal’s 18-match winning streak in the Durand Cup semi-final and the teams played out a 1-1 draw in the Kolkata league after that.

Chirag go into this game after beating Mohun Bagan on Sunday. Both teams miss a frontline striker though the blow may be harsher for East Bengal as they have to do without the suspended Tolgay Ozbey, their Australian marksman and highest scorer. Chirag will continue to miss Nigerian Junior Elijah.
