The Spaniard, a keen Real Madrid fan, watched his country beat Germany 1-0 from his rented house here along with 12 friends, but was not tempted to overdo the celebrations with a fourth round clash against Mikhail Youzhny to play on Monday.

"Jumping," was how Nadal described his way of marking the full-time whistle in Vienna.

"The champagne we will reserve to finish the tournament," added Nadal who sent a text of congratulation to Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas in the aftermath of the match.

Nadal eased into the quarter-finals with a straight sets win over Youzhny.
