Asian Games 2026 Day 10: Sreeshankar, Gulveer and Esha shine as India stack up eight medals in a rousing all-round show

In men's singles, Sumit Nagal was locked at 3-2 in the opening set against South Korea's Hong Seongchan when rain brought the match to a halt.

Pincky Balhara wins the bronze medal in the women’s 78kg category after losing her semifinal 0-5 to South Korea’s Mo Sumin. The Indian was trailing throughout the contest as Sumin, the 2026 Asian Championships gold medallist, secured her place in the final. Balhara repeats her bronze medal finish from the 2018 Asian Games.

Lovlina Borgohain completely dominated South Korea’s Suyeon Seong 5-0 in the quarters. A dominant show from Borgohain to secure a medal for India in boxing.

Chikitha Taniparthi beats Bhutan’s Dorji Dolma 149-140, while Jyothi Surekha Vennam defeats Kazakhstan’s Adel Zhexenbinova 148-145 to move into the next round of the women’s compound individual event.

India’s quarterfinal against Afghanistan has been called off due to heavy rain, sending India through to the semifinals. They will now face the winner of the Sri Lanka and Nepal quarterfinal in the last four.

Joshna Chinappa produces a dominant display against Liu Ziyi 12-10, 11-4 and 11-6 in the deciding match to clinch victory for India. With the tie level at 1-1, Joshna held her nerve to deliver the crucial win in the women’s team competition.

India beat Hong Kong, China in straight sets in men's Pool C match at Park Arena Komaki, winning 25-22, 25-19, 25-21, to seal quarterfinal berth. India had earlier defeated Vietnam in three sets on Sunday, and will take on Qatar in their final group game tomorrow.

Tanvi Khanna delivers a dominant performance, beating China’s Yuning Zhang 11-3, 11-5, 11-5 in straight games. India level the tie at 1-1, with Joshna Chinappa now taking on the responsibility in the deciding match.

The comeback in the second set was not enough to inspire them to go all the way through as India fall short in the women's doubles Group B match against Japan. India lose 11-15, 15-9, 13-15.
