Barca suffered their first defeat of the league campaign in a 1-0 reverse at Getafe on Saturday to slip six points behind leaders Real Madrid but after a shaky opening at the Nou Camp.
Chile forward Alexis broke the deadlock in the 29th minute, and added a second in the 41st before forward David Villa made it 3-0 before the break.
Lionel Messi raced in off the right flank to notch his 16th league goal of the season after the restart. The match was brought forward due to Barca’s participation in the Club World Cup in Japan next month and saw them climb to 31 points from 14 games, three behind Real who a game in hand.
Pepe strike helps Juve draw at Napoli
Leaders Juventus fought back from two goals down to draw 3-3 away to Napoli at the San Paolo stadium on Tuesday to extend their unbeaten start to the Serie A campaign. Goran Pandev struck twice for the hosts but Pepe popped up with a late equaliser to stretch Juve’s lead over AC Milan to two points after 12 games.
Marek Hamsik headed Napoli in front midway through the first half before Pandev doubled the lead in the 40th-minute.
Alessandro Matri pulled a goal back for Juve three minutes into the second half but Pandev struck again to put Napoli 3-1 ahead. The visitors pulled one back through Marcelo Estigarribia in the 73rd-minute before Simone Pepe made it 3-3.
