Wimbledon, the only grass-court Grand Slam of the year returns after two years. The 2021 Wimbledon Championships will be the 134th edition of the tournament, the 127th staging of the Ladies' Singles Championship event, the 53rd in the Open Era, and the third Grand Slam tournament of the year. While Novak Djokovic is the men's singles defending champion, Romania's Simona Halep will begin her title defence this year.

Here are all the results from Day 1:

1) Aryna Sabalenka wins

Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus emerged as the first winner in a Wimbledon Grand Slam match in two years, as she defeated Romania's Monica Niculescu in straight sets in first-round match. Sabalenka won the encounter against her opponent 6-1, 6-4 at Court-One.

2) Novak Djokovic wins

Defending champion Novak Djokovic came back from behind to defeat Britain's Jack Draper in four sets in the first round. After losing the first set to get an early scare, Djokovic brushed past his opponents winning the next three sets to win the match 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the next round.

3) Tsitsipas knocked out

Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas was knocked out in the first round after losing to USA's Frances Tiafoe. The third-seeded Tsitsipas suffered a defeat in straight sets, going down against Tiafoe 4-6, 4-6, 3-6.

4) Pedro Martinez wins

Spain's Pedro Martinez defeated Italy's Stefano Travaglia 6-3,2-6,6-4,6-4 in their first-round match at the 20201 Wimbledon Championship.

5) American qualifier Denis Kudla wins

American qualifier Denis Kudla rallied from a two-set deficit to win his opening match at Wimbledon. Kudla, a tour veteran ranked 114th, beat No. 30-seeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain. The score was 5-7, 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3, 6-3.

6) Sofia Kenin wins

Sofia Kenin advanced to the second round at Wimbledon by beating Xinyu Wang 6-4, 6-2. Kenin saved the only break point she faced. The 2020 Australian Open champion is seeded fourth.

7) Petra Kvitova knocked out.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has been eliminated in the first round by American Sloane Stephens, 6-3, 6-4. Stephens, a former top 10 player now ranked 73rd, committed only 14 unforced errors. Her best showing at Wimbledon was in 2013, when she reached the quarterfinals.

8) Iga Swiatek wins

Poland’s Iga Swiatek started off her Wimbledon campaign promisingly, registering a 6-4 6-4 win over Taiwan’ Hsieh Su-wei for her first main draw victory. The World No. 9 overcame Hsieh on the way to last year’s French Open title, made a strong start with a break in the opening game but allowed her unorthodox opponent to hang on before taking the first set on serve.

9) Andy Murray starts with a win

England’s Andy Murray defeated No. 24-seeded Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 at the All England Club to begin his Wimbledon 202i campaign. Murray took a 5-0 lead in the third set but was broken serving for the match three consecutive times, and lost seven games in a row. He got the upper hand in the final set.

10) Garbine Muguruza defeat Fiona Ferro

Former champion Garbine Muguruza defeated Frenchwoman Fiona Ferro 6-0, 6-1 in the first round on Monday. The game was delayed by run. However, the 11th seeded Spaniard made up for lost time after the game resumed to march into the second round in 49 minutes. Muguruza won the first 11 games before a netted forehand showed Ferro the way to get on the scoreboard.
